The Absolutely Mindy Show & Author-Illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka partner to bring books and authors to listeners
NEW YORK (May 3rd, 2012)– The Absolutely Mindy Show on Sirius XM’s Kid’s Place Live and award-winning, author-illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka are pleased to announce the launch of “The Book Report with JJK”, a twice monthly segment dedicated to bringing kids age 10 and under the inside scoop on their favorite children’s book creators. The first episode is slated to air Wednesday, May 9th in honor of Children’s Book Week. Already lined up are bestsellers Jeff Kinney, Mo Willems, Tony DiTerlizzi, Lisa Yee, Jeanne Birdsall, and Jennifer and Matthew Holm. From time to time Jarrett will also interview kids, finding out from them what they love to read and writeabout.
“I am beyond excited to connect my fellow authors and illustrators with the listeners of the Absolutely Mindy Show,” said Jarrett. “But more exciting, will be bringing the young Sirius XM listeners into the homes and studios of their favorite authors and illustrators and lifting the veils on the creative processes they undertake. Nearly every author I have ever met has been writing since they were children and I look forward to connecting that fact to the budding authors on the other side of the airwaves.”
The idea for the segment blossomed last fall after Jarrett visited Mindy Thomas’s show while he was in Washington, D.C. for the National Book Festival. Mindy had laryngitis and instead of canceling the interview, she asked Jarrett to interview her other guest and field some of the questions from the kids. It was such a hit—and loads of fun—that Mindy thought it would be great to have Jarrett host a regular segment on books and writing. The show is scheduled to air every other Wednesday starting May 9th, 2012.
“I am so excited for this opportunity to give kids a chance to hear about their favorite books from this unique author-to-author perspective, said Mindy. “I can’t imagine a more exciting (or plugged in) ‘book correspondent’ than ‘The Lunch Lady Guy’ himself!”
The interviews, which will happen in person, are meant to be evergreen and will not be tied to a specific event or book publication. Along with hosting these conversations,Jarrett will also be encouraging listeners to head to their local bookstores and libraries to find the authors’ books.
Jarrett has designed a logo for the segment, and the show’s theme song was created by Recess Monkey, the band that composed The Lunch Lady theme songs for Jarrett’s two-time Children’s Choice Book Award winning middle-grade series.
In addition to airing during The Absolutely Mindy Show, The Book Report with JJK will rerun in blocks during the weekends.

JARRETT J. KROSOCZKA has been passionate about storytelling through words and pictures since he was a kid. He began his professional career by illustrating educational readers for a national publisher while still an undergraduate at Rhode Island School of Design. Then, just six months after graduation, Jarrett received his first contract for a trade book that he authored. Random House Children’s Books published Good Night, Monkey Boy on June 12, 2001 and Jarrett hasn’t stopped or slowed down since. He currently has authored and illustrated sixteen published books—ten picture books and six graphic novels. He is the two-time winner of the Third to Fourth Grade Book of the Year in the Children’s Choice Book Awards and has seen his work recommended by national publications like Newsweek, The New York Times and USA Today. His Punk Farm and Lunch Lady series are both in development to be feature films.
