Help your pre-school age son celebrate becoming a big brother in a fun way. The BIG Baby Book finds Josh rubbing his mother’s pregnant belly. He wants to know if everybody comes into the world as a small baby. His mom tells him all about different animal babies and how some are naked, some are hairy, some lie down, while some stand up right away, and more. At the end, the reader sees that Josh used to be a small baby too, but now he’s a big brother.
What a wonderful way to help your child accept a new or soon-to-be sibling. This touching, beautifully illustrated book shares the change of going from being a small baby to becoming a big brother in a non-threatening and delightful way. I think it’s wise of van Genechten to use animals as the focus instead of humans, as this not only teaches the reader something about nature, it allows him to see the issue from a distance and then relay it back to himself and the upcoming changes in his own life.
This would be the perfect gift for a family welcoming a second child.
