Ian’s New Potty by Pauline Oud

From the author/illustrator of Going to the Beach with Lily and Milo comes an encouraging book to help make potty training easier.

Ian is a big boy now. His mom buys him a new potty and big boy underpants. Ian is eager to use his new potty, but the pee doesn’t come right away. He runs off to play and soon feels a funny feeling in his tummy. The floor and his new boy underpants get all wet. At dinner time he gets that funny feeling in his tummy again. Maybe this is his chance to use his new potty.

Ian’s New Potty by Pauline Oud is definitely a book you’ll want around if you’re planning to get your child ready to transition out of diapers. With simple language Ian’s story will encourage your youngster and let him know what he’s feeling and doing is okay. He’ll see the excitement on Ian’s face as he gets to use his new potty for the first time and helps Mommy clean up afterwards.

A nice touch is Ian’s stuffed rabbit named Flap, who Ian speaks to throughout the story. After using his potty, Ian even tells Flap that he’s a big boy now and he’s ready to play.

I would recommend Ian’s New Potty to any family I knew was working on potty training.

Going to the Zoo with Lily and Milo and Going to the Beach with Lily and Milo by Pauline Oud

Author Pauline Oud is an author and illustrator who has children’s books in a variety of languages. Clavis Publishing out of New York recently sent me two of her Englishย Lily and Milo books for review.

In Going to the Zoo with Lily and Milo, the two friends set out for the zoo to discover a variety of animals. With Lily pulling Milo along in the wagon, they travel through the zoo finding giraffes and elephants, penguins, and monkeys. But what they find when they get home is fun too.

Going to the Beach with Lily and Milo ย finds the friends on another adventure. Here they are getting ready to go to the beach, but there are so many different things to choose to bring with them. What should they wear? Which towels will they bring? Which umbrellas are best? What kind of food should they take? After they get everything together, are they set to go right away?

Oud’s vibrant illustrations in these books will engage your young reader right from the start. The characters are adorable, and the beach one really made me feel at home since planning a trip out usually involves a lot of planning and many choices from my girls before we can head out.

What is so special about the Lily and Milo books is that they truly engage the reader. The narrator talks to the reader, promopting her with questions, encouraging her to guess what animal is hiding in the zoo or which hat and pair of sunglasses Lily or Milo will choose.

I’m eager to find more of Oud’s books and will keep an eye on future releases.
