Most Popular Children’s Book the Year You Were Born

Not that I have a lot of free time, but when I do it is neat to check out articles about popular things from the year I was born. While on MSN today, this article was one of those on their homepage: “The Most Popular Children’s Book The Year You Were Born.” It starts with 1950 and goes through last year. What a joy going remembering some of the books from my childhood. I also learned that Corduroy by Don Freeman was the most popular book in 1968–the year I was born.

Enjoy traveling through this history of children’s books at MSN.

It’s Christmas Eve in the tiny hamlet of Berry Hollow. The smells of gingerbread, apple cider, and roasted chestnuts fill the air, and the town Christmas tree awaits its decorations. Redrick Raccoon and Henley Groundhog are nearly ready for Christmas, but Henley needs help keeping a promise so that no one will miss out on the wonder and mystery of Christmas.

Book Review: Purr-Fectly Home by Kimberly Palmucci

Author Kimberly Palmucci is back with the next book in her shelter animals series, Purr-fectly Home. Teaming up again with artist Brandi McCann, this book is about Lucky and Princess. Lucky had found his new home, and he enjoyed every room and scratching post in the place. But, that basement was too scary for him. One day, he notices a new scent in the house. Come to find out, Princess has moved in. She had struggled to find her forever home. Together, they overcome their fears and form a close bond.

If you enjoyed the first two books in the series, you’re going to love this one. Purr-fectly Home is such a sweet story, and it is inspired by real life animals, which makes it even more meaningful. The pairing of Palmucci and McCann is sheer perfection. McCann’s illustrations capture every adorable moment. Her colorful illustrations will capture the eyes of all readers. Though a total stand alone story, readers will love to follow these shelter animals along from book to book.

Any pet lover will want to read Purr-fectly Home. It is also a wonderful way to help kids celebrate differences and learn how to thrive in new situations. I’m eager to see what Palmucci has planned for the future.
