Books You Miss

I was checking out the Barnes and Noble website and saw that books in the Fancy Nancy series by Jane O’Connor are on sale. Gosh, I hadn’t thought about Fancy Nancy in years. That brought my mind back to those days of sitting in the Lil’ Diva’s or Lil’ Princess’ bedrooms at night and reading before bedtime. There were so many books we read, I could never name them all. Here are a few that stick out in my mind.

I still remember the last book we read together…

We bought Scarlet, but somewhere in the middle of it the girls decided they were too old to read with mommy. 😦

What are some books you remember reading to your kids? Do you miss them? I’m hoping one day there will be grandkids who want to read with their yiayia.

I Don’t Want to go to Bed! by Julie Sykes

bed

Every parent has heard it. It’s bedtime and you want your little one to snuggle in, but instead she says, “I don’t want to go to bed.” Sigh.

Each night when Mommy Tiger tells Little Tiger it’s bedtime, he says he doesn’t want to go to bed. So, one night she grants his wish by telling him he can stay up all night.

I Don’t Want to go to Bed! is adorable. A perfect blend of a sweet story and colorful illustrations, every little one who tries to avoid bedtime–and even those who haven’t–will enjoy following along Little Tiger’s journey through the jungle as he dashes from one animal family to another trying to be sure he can stay up all night.

Little Tiger is the main character featured in other books by Sykes. I’m definitely interested in reading the others.

Rock-a-bye Baby Illustrated by John Kanzler

John Kanzler lends his artistic talents to bring this classic Mother Goose rhyme and popular lullaby to life in Rock-a-bye Baby. Baby bear grabs his blanket and rocks in his cradle as Mama bear sings him to sleep. The soft watercolors are soothing, and little fingers will enjoy touching the flocked bear on the front cover.

This is a beautiful padded board book that would make the perfect present for a mother-to-be or a new mom. It would be a great focal point for a baby shower gift basket, and at a suggested retail price of only $8.95 you can afford to fill that basket up with a ton of other goodies.

You’ll be able to get your little one down for nap or bedtime with Rock-a-bye Baby.
