It’s Day 14 of Picture Book Idea Month (PiBoIdMo). Coordinated by Tara Lazar, this annual event asks writers to set a goal of coming up with 30 picture book ideas during the 30 days of November.
PICTURE BOOK IDEA #14: What about the story of a zany detective who couldn’t solve a crime if the answer walked up and smacked him on the backside? I’m giving a workshop at school today, and I thought dressing up as a detective might be a good way to remind the kids how to be a good observer. And like a good detective, a writer must follow clues (or the story) to see where it goes. This got me to thinking about Inspector Gadget and how he only solved crimes by accident or with the help of his niece, Penny. It would need to be a ridiculous crime, but it could be fun.
