It’s Day 2 of Picture Book Idea Month (PiBoIdMo). Coordinated by Tara Lazar, this annual event asks writers to set a goal of coming up with 30 picture book ideas during the 30 days of November. Registration is still open for a few more days (November 4th), so if you’re interested in joining us, visit http://taralazar.com/2012/10/23/piboidmo-2012-registration-begins-now-sign-up-here/.
PICTURE BOOK IDEA #2: When I participated in PiBoIdMo in 2010, I worked out ideas for a character I had tossed around based upon our oldest daughter. After completing two books, I pitched the first one to an agent at the WriteAngles Conference in 2011. While the story didn’t get picked up, I received tons of great feedback on how to improve it. I’ve been editing the first book with the hopes of sending it out again in early 2013.
Beatrice is an intelligent, active, mischievous girl with a huge imagination. She and her imaginary friend, Charlotte, go on lots of adventures together. In Beatrice and the Great Escape, Beatrice is sent to school for the first time. She is told by her parents that she must leave Charlotte at home. Having never been separated before, Beatrice decides she doesn’t like school at all, so she plots to escape and run home to Charlotte.
