PiBoIdMo 2010 – Idea #14

Moving right along, here is my next idea for Picture Book Idea Month.

Idea #14

Rachel Meets Jesus

Isn’t that the lamest title? Oh well, I can work on that.

There is a very special portion of scripture from the Gospel of Matthew that I’ve always loved. It speaks of Jesus traveling from Gailee to Judea. Large crowds had followed Him. Some Pharisees were among the group and tested Him. Then people began bringing their children to be blessed, but the disciples tried to turn them away.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (NIV)

Rachel in this story would be one of the children who was blessed by Jesus that day. Perhaps the story could be that she was with her family in the crowd that followed Jesus. She listened to Him preach, but was very disappointed when the disciples tried to turn them away. Then her spirit was lifted by Jesus’ blessing.

I have quite figured out the details of this one yet, but I like it.

  1. Titles are so hard sometimes! I totally hear you on that. 🙂 But I agree with Nancy, it’s not lame. At least you say what’s happening in the story! Something snappier will come to you in time.
